Here's the jist.

The standard method results in more trauma, because the needle cuts the full distance beween the two holes. Punching two holes in the skin, and then massaging the jewelry through the fatty tissue, with a non-sharp taper.

Makes sense to me. I anyone happen to know of any studios in Chicago that do punch and taper?

Thank you for posting this link. I forwarded the same one to Prof Thom in lieu of the one he has posted. He's a very busy man and just hasn't had time to update the link. I've been getting most of my work done in NYC as of late, and the only piercer that i'd reccomend for this procedure is no longer located in Chicago. However, I will ask around and see if I can find anyone for you.
