I don't think I heard it discussed yet on any of your podcasts, but I would definitely be interested in learning more about choking. I always hold my breath at orgasm since it intensifies it, and my last partner wasn't really into the choking thing. But, maybe a future partner would be! I'd love to hear more about it, techniques, etc, since it can be a weird request to make.

Asphyxiation is the clinical term for it. The lack of oxygen to the brain at the time of orgasm and even during sex or masturbation enhances the orgasm.
This is definitely something that I would only do with somebody I trusted. I would never do this alone. I don't promote this to be done alone and would be obligated to... I don't know... slap.
Asphyxiation is a great way of establishing dominance while in bed, but don't do it without the permission of your partner. I would go so far as to say that I would wait for the insistence of my partner before I choked her during sex.
That's my two cents.

You bring up some really good points.
Trust is so important in so many aspects. I wouldn't even trust myself to choke someone else because it seems like you easily cross a line where it becomes no fun anymore.
Is there a way to ease into something like asphyxiation as there are with other things?

You could give them control. Gas masks allow for you or the other person to have control of the breathing. That would allow someone to experiment without you having to engage in power exchange.
Be careful, though - someone who 'gets into it' could still choke themselves out. Have some smelling salts handy, be sober and pay attention.

with breath play aka asphyxiation aka choking, people should know the risks involved before deciding that's something they want to do. as emphasized on previous shows, there are some definite risks associated with enema play including possible death. likewise, with breath play, people can die. people can die quickly, and without much if any warning. breath play can be very dangerous, and i don't know if there is a way to do it safely. Jay Wiseman has a good reference article, which can be found here: http://www.leathernroses.com/generalbdsm/wisemanbreathcontrol1.htm (not sure if there's an original site where this article can be found, but i imagine this is probably his essay verbatim; if someone has a more reliable source for the article, i'd appreciate a link). |

Of anything we do, breathplay is probably the most likely to result in death. Most BDSM related mutder charges seem to be the result of breathplay gone bad. I personally know of two breathplay fatalities. Rather than repeat them here, a web link to an old post is below. For the person who asked, there is a link directly ot Jay Wiseman;s web there as well
